It is key to establishing and maintaining relationships, and is an active process that involves listening, questioning, understanding and responding. All communication should be age appropriate, matching the stage of development, personal circumstances, and the needs of the person being spoken to. Communication is not just about the words you use, but also about the way you are speaking and your body language, emotional expressions and actions.
